Being a part of the coffee community, we’re always on the lookout for espresso-based drinks. Whether they be sweet or spicy, cold or hot, we have tried and love them all. This time around, we stumbled on a latte that we thought had coffee but only namesake. We tried the Frozen Chai Latte, and we absolutely loved it!
This sweet and spicy beverage took us by the storm and we were surprised to find out that this latte had no coffee as a constituent. Available at almost all coffee shops, the Frozen Chai Latte is made of chai (tea). We tried to make one ourselves and have finally been able to craft a quick and easy homemade recipe for Frozen Chai Latte.
What is Frozen Chai Latte?
Frozen Chai Latte is made from black tea that is infused with spices and steamed milk. The tea is then poured over ice to give it an icy and refreshing flavor. The tea made with a fusion of spices (also known as masala chai) varies from recipe to recipe but all taste amazing.
Chai originated in India long ago and is still popular amongst many Asians. But what got us wondering is how this chai-infused drink became an addition to coffee shop menus. The Frozen Chai Latte at Starbucks had us wanting more so we decided to simply make our own! The ‘latte’ added to the name is just a hoax as there is no coffee used in the making of this drink.
