The Indonesian capital of Jakarta is known for its glitzy shopping centers, which are the go-to places for the city’s affluent youth. However, in recent years, the emergence of trendy coffee parlors in South Jakarta has become increasingly popular among the young crowd.

Its leafy Kemang area is the epicenter of this thriving local coffee culture, and it is here that the second outpost of Tanatap has opened its doors.

Tanatap Ring Garden Coffee Shop is a circular concrete pavilion with a glass block façade. The cafe consists of a large outer ring and a smaller inner ring of different heights that create an indoor space.

This indoor space houses a service station and bar, various seating arrangements, and a spacious meeting room. Patrons enter the premises by way of a sleek roofed jetty.

The café’s interior design features raw concrete, complemented by large wooden and metal beams, white tiles, glass blocks, and gravel. Indoor garden patches connect the indoor setting with the sloped garden at the heart of Tanatap’s new outpost.

A gravel terrace at the garden’s lower level features sizable artificial pebbles in a variety of colors that may also be found inside the café. Large trees and rich vegetation surround this space, which is also bordered by concrete beams that form a staircase leading to extra-tiered seating in an outdoor amphitheater.

Tanatap’s circular main building is connected to a semi-circular smaller structure that accommodates the kitchen and storage space. The menu at Tanatap features a variety of classic coffee options, including espresso and regular black coffee.

Still, it also offers various concoctions that use espresso as a base ingredient, as well as local favorites like the Pandan latte. Additionally, there is a range of teas, mocktails, milk drinks, and iced variations to suit the tropical nation’s soaring temperatures.

Food-wise, Tanatap primarily serves Indonesian and Asian dishes, such as Rendang fried rice, Nasi lemak, Balinese rice, and a series of desserts.
